DEFINITIONS
- Full Market Value is the estimate of your property’s market value as of January 2, 2025.
- Level of Assessment (LOA) is the percentage of Full Market Value at which properties are assessed as determined by the Department of Assessment. For tax year 2026-2027, the Class Four Level of Assessment is 1% (.01).
- Tentative Assessed Value (TAV) is calculated using your property's Full Market Value multiplied by the current Level of Assessment. (Example: A Full Market Value of $1,000,000 multiplied by a LOA of 1% equals 10,000 in Tentative Assessed Value for tax year 2026-2027).
- Transitional Assessed Value will limit any increase in assessed value from the prior tax year (excluding new construction and renovations) for Class Two and Class Four properties. The increase will be phased in by equal amounts over a five-year period.
If you would like to challenge your assessment or property's classification or exemption status, you may file an “Application for Correction of Assessment” with the Assessment Review Commission between January 2, 2025 and March 3, 2025. The application and a publication containing procedures for contesting an assessment can be obtained on-line at www.nassaucountyny.gov/arc, in person at the Assessment Review Commission’s offices located at 240 Old Country Road on the 5th floor in Mineola, or by contacting ARC at (516) 571-3214 after January 2, 2025.
